Three nabbed in murder case

MIRPURKHAS, July 24: The Bodar farm investigation police arrested three accused in a murder case of a peasant woman on Tuesday night.

A peasant, Bhoro Meghwar, had lodged an FIR under section 302 and 34 PPC with the Bodar farm police on July 20 accusing a landlord, Ghulam Hussain Arain, of trying to rape his daughter, Ganga (22), and when she offered resistance, he strangulated her with the help of her husband, Shagan Meghwar, his manager, Bhagwano Meghwar, and an associate, Mohan Meghwar, at the Asfia farm.

He stated that he was informed on July 15 that his daughter had committed suicide by taking pesticide. But he instantly realized that there was something wrong and had a murder case registered with the police.

Earlier, the Bodar farm police had recorded her death as suicide under section 174 and she was buried without post-mortem.

After registering of the murder case, her body was exhumed and a lady doctor, Madhuri Maheshri, conducted post-mortem at the Taluka hospital Umerkot.

The preliminary medical report revealed that two men had strangulated her with a rope and torture marks were also visible on her legs.

The investigation police have arrested the landlord, Ghulam Hussain Arain, his manager, Bhagwano Meghwar, and the woman’s husband, Shagan Meghwar.

PESTICIDE DEALER: A pesticide dealer, Abid Hussain Qaimkhani, was booked by the Kot Ghulam Mohammed police for selling sub-standard pesticides on Wednesday.

The assistant director, agriculture, Digri, Yar Mohammed Khaskheli, has lodged an FIR with the KGM police stating that he had taken some samples of pesticides from the shop of the pesticide dealer, Abid Hussain Qaimkhani, and sent it to a laboratory where the samples were found to be sub-standard.

INSPECTION TEAM: A two-member provincial inspection team for monitoring on-going development works under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme arrived here on Wednesday.

The team held meetings with the DCO, Mirpurkhas, and the officers of various government departments and examined the records of on-going development schemes under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme. It also inspected various developmentschemes.

It was informed that 95 development schemes at an estimated cost of Rs 262 million would be completed in the urban and rural areas of the district under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme.
