PESHAWAR, July 16: A two-member bench of the Peshawar High Court on Tuesday directed the City Development and Municipal Department not to demolish the two petrol stations during the GT Road expansion, until further orders.
The bench issued the order in a writ petition of the owners of the two stations, Mughal Filling Station and Modern Filling Station. The court also sought comments from the director-general of the CDMD within a fortnight.
During road expansion, the city administration has been demolishing portions of buildings, which were in the way.
Barrister Masood Kausar appeared for the petitioners and contended that the petitioners had been running these filling stations for decades. He added that earlier, the administration had asked them to provide 10 feet area for road expansion, to which they had agreed. But the government started demolishing the filling stations, he said.
