WASHINGTON, July 16: The editor of a US weekly, National Review, on Monday protested a brief detention by the State Department of one of his reporters last week over a leaked classified cable.

In a letter to spokesman Richard Boucher, the editor said the questioning of reporter Joel Mowbray by State Department security agents amounted to nothing more than harassment of a journalist who had written stories critical of the department’s visa issuance policy.—AFP
