NAB arrest man for co-op loan default

LAHORE, July 15: The National Accountability Bureau Punjab arrested one Azizul Haq Qureshi on Monday for an alleged default on payment of Rs75.63 million to the defunct National Industrial Cooperative Finance Cooperation.

Accroding to the NAB, Mr Qureshi had obtained loans from the NICFC between 1982 and 1984 without any collateral or security. On Nov 6, 1991, the amount due from him stood at Rs20.36 million. After adding mark-up at the rate of 20 per cent the total liability on June 30, 2002, was calculated as Rs75.63 million. —Reporter
