LAHORE, July 14: Industrial workers will observe a black day on Wednesday (July 17) to express resentment against government policies.
The workers will hoist black flags and banners in industrial areas and go to work with black armbands.
They will also hold gate meetings to condemn the government policies of privatisation without protecting the rights of workers, continuing ban on trade union activities, the contract system and inflation.
The All-Pakistan Trade Unions Federation finalized the black day programmes at a meeting held in the Gulberg industrial area on Sunday under the chairmanship of Gulzar Chaudhry.
He said the government had failed to honour the promises made to the workers and the people at the time of coming into power.
He said the government had imposed the graduation condition for contesting the elections on the one hand but made the education a luxury for the common run of people by privatizing the education. He said the workers were now fed up with the government policies and had decided to start a protest campaign.
