Population Day observed

SUKKUR, July 11: To mark the “World Population Day”, rallies were staged in different parts of Sindh on Thursday.

Walks in connection with creating awareness regarding population control on the eve of the World Population Day was held in Thari Mirwah, Kotdiji, Kingri, Ghotki, and other parts of interior Sindh on Thursday.

In Kotdiji, hundreds of men and women, led by Sheerin Sial of Marie Stopes, marched through the main thoroughfares of the town.

Similar walks were held in Kingri and Kotdiji. They were led by the Nazim, Kotdiji, Nawab Wasan.

The people walked through the main bazaars of Kotdiji and Kingri towns and stopped at the fort area of Kotdiji.

The Nazim Kotdiji appreciated the role of NGOs, specially of Marie Stopes, which had done an excellent service in the field of family planning, specially in interior Sindh.

Our Larkana correspondent adds: The district Nazim, Larkana, Khursheed Ahmad Junejo, has said on Thursday that the ill-planned growth in the country has thrown Pakistan in the face of various social and economical problems.

He said this while addressing a seminar on the eve of the World Population Day, which was held under the auspices of the Mehran Welfare Trust.

Meanwhile, the Population Welfare Department also arranged a walk here on the eve of the World Population Day on Thursday, which was participated by men, women, and children in large numbers.

Our Mirpurkhas correspondent adds: To mark the “World Population Day”, a walk was organized by the population welfare department here.

Hundreds of participants, including male and female employees of the population department, citizens and doctors, carrying banners and placards, marched through main roads and reached the local press club.

Our Dadu correspondent adds: A rally was taken out from the district population office to the Dadu Press Club. The rally was organised by the Population Welfare Department to mark the World Population Day on Thursday.

A large number of social workers, NGOs, officials and employees of the Population Welfare Department attended the rally.

Our Nawabshah correspondent adds: To mark the “World Population Day”, a walk was organized by the population welfare department in collaboration with the health department and the Marie Stope Society.
