LAHORE, July 10: The National Alliance will seek applications from intending candidates for the October elections after announcement of the election schedule.

This was stated by National Alliance (NA) General Secretary Muhammad Ali Durrani on Wednesday. He was talking to newsmen after the general council meeting of the alliance at a local hotel here.

The alliance would complete its organizations at the district, tehsil and city level by July 25, he said.

He said that some political parties were opposing constitutional amendments package for the sake of opposition. Instead of giving viable suggestions for improvement in the package these parties were engaged in scoring a political mileage and want to blackmail the government, he said.

Such political parties when they were in power increased poverty, illiteracy and corruption in the country, he said.

He said that people were fed up with the corruption and they would not allow return of corrupt people in to power again.

The meeting was presided over by alliance’s Punjab acting president Malik Iqbal Langrial. Millat Party Additional Secretary General Mian Ahsanul Haq, Markazi Secretary Information Brig Muhammad Yousaf (retired), Fazal Hussain Rahi, Imran Riaz, Afzal Hayat, Neelam Shah, NPP President Iqbal Cheema and number of others were present on the occasion.

Later, Mr Langrial told newsmen that arrangements were being finalized for workers convention of the alliance on July 22 and 25 at Lahore and Gujranwala respectively.—APP
