HYDERABAD, July 9: The irrigation department, Hyderabad, has notified that show-cause notices will be issued to the growers who are stealing water.

The executive engineer, Naseer division, here on Monday said ten times penalty would be imposed on the growers who were stealing water or their watercourse would be closed for seven days or FIRs would be registered against them.

He said the delinquent growers would be given three days to reply to the notices and they would be punished if the charges of water theft were proved against them.

HESCO: The recovery Mukhtiarkar, operation circle-I, Hesco, notified here on Monday that 720 consumers, who had defaulted in the payment of electricity bills, had been served with notices to clear their dues within five days failing which, action would be taken against them under the 1967 Land Revenue Act.

He said over Rs38.6 million was outstanding against the consumers of Tando Jam, Tando Allahyar, Mirpurkhas city, Gari Khata, Hyderabad, Hali Road, Syed Umaid Ali Road, Qasimabad, Rizvi Hospital, Hirabad, Samaro Umerkot and other sub-divisions.

ABOLISHED: The AIGP, Hyderabad region, Abdur Rauf Yousufzai, has abolished the traffic police branch of Mirpurkhas and directed that in future, respective police stations will manage the traffic of the city.

The step has been taken on public complaints.

Meanwhile, the AIGP thanked Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Yousuf Suleman, former president Haji Mohammad Yaqoob and vice-president Mohammad Ahmad for donating a generator to the police hospital.
