Two get 7-year RI for bank robbery
MARDAN, July 6: The anti-terrorism court, Mardan, on Friday sentenced two accused of looting the Bank of Khyber branch here on February, 2002, to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment.
During the hearing of the case, special judge, Syed Shabbir Hussain Shah, found the accused, Hiwan Ali and Hassan Ghulam, guilty of the crime under Section 398/34 PPc and sentenced them to seven years imprisonment.
Similarly, the accused were also convicted under Section 471 PPC and awarded two years’ rigorous imprisonment for using fake identity cards. However, both the sentences shall be running concurrently.
The anti-terrorism court, Mardan, in its verdict also asked both the convicts to file their appeal within seven days before the Peshawar High Court.
It is worth mentioning that three other accomplices of the convicts, namely Kamin Gul, son of Momin, resident of Orakzai Agency, Yamin, son of Afridi, resident of Shangla and Amir Khan, resident of Kohat, had already been declared proclaimed offenders.
