PESHAWAR, July 6: The Wapda’s drive against electricity theft is creating problems for the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) in South Waziristan.
In a press release issued on Saturday, a PTCL spokesman said the Wapda was installing meters in South Waziristan and the tribesmen of the agency were against this action. The angry mob uprooted electricity poles in protest against the installation of meters. “This dispute has caused disruption in the PTCL communication system in that region,” the PTCL spokesman said.
“The PTCL is using electricity generators to avoid disruption in its service to the customers,” the release said.
The PTCL spokesman said that if the customers were facing any problem in that area, the utility would do its utmost to minimize those problems.
“The PTCL has raised the issue with Wapda authorities and the political agent of the agency but no solution has yet been found,” the release added.
