HYDERABAD, July 4: The managing director, Wasa, has announced that power breakdown on July 3 at Fort Hill water supply pumping station from 5:30pm to 7:30pm has caused severe water shortage in already water-deficit areas of Hali Road, American Quarters, Hazara Colony, Gari Khata, Risala Road, Station Road, Radio Pakistan, Tulsidas Road and Cantonment.

He said the supply of water remained suspended for one hour due to the breakdown at New Filter Plant and added that it would take two to three days to normalize the water supply position in the affected areas, provided there was no further breakdown.

DEMO: The owner of a hotel, Abdul Aziz Qureshi, and his supporters from Millat-i-Islamia Colony, Gharibabad Chowk, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Thursday against a gang of land-grabbers.

Talking to newsmen, Mr Qureshi said that four years back he purchased the hotel but the influential land-grabbers were trying to take over the possession of his hotel.

He said the land-grabbers had sent misleading applications to the Cantonment Board and ASP, Cantonment police, and had got the upper portion of the hotel sealed.

He said in the same vicinity there were four-storey buildings but no action had been taken against the owners of those buildings.

He said these tactics were aimed at taking over the possession of the hotel through harassment.

He said his life and property were in danger.
