LAHORE, April 27 Zaeem Raja, the brother of former Test cricketer Wasim Hasan Raja (late), has criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for not recognising the services of the all-rounder in a proper manner.
Zaeem, himself a former first-class cricketer, said that his was a cricketing family and his brother Wasim had rendered great services for the country in the game.
”Wasim died nearly three years ago but the PCB, despite my repeated requests, have not taken any step to recognise the services of great all-rounder,” Zaeem said. “I had also appealed to the previous chairman of the PCB Dr Nasim Ashraf, who had assured me of some steps towards recognition of Wasim`s services, but nothing happened. Now, I have repeatedly attempted to make contact with the current chairman Ijaz Butt but in vain,” said Zaeem.
Zaeem also appealed to PCB`s patron-in-chief, President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani to instruct the PCB hierarchy to formally honour late Wasim by naming a tournament or a series after him. Zaeem added that sincethe prime minister was also one of Wasim`s class-fellows, he was hoping that the premier will take up the matter soon.
