UBL force Pak Saudi to follow on: Patrons Trophy

KARACHI, April 18 United Bank Ltd (UBL) forced Pak Saudi International to follow-on in a Patrons Trophy Grade-II tie at the NBP Sports Complex here on Saturday.

Replying to UBLs first innings mammoth total of 392 on the second day of the three-day match, Pak Saudi International were bundled out for 155 in the 40th over with tail-ender Nasir Awais hitting a fighting 53 studded with ten boundaries.

Paceman Irshad snapped up three wickets for 40 runs in ten overs while captain Tariq Haroon took two for 26 in six overs.

However, Pak Saudi put up a spirited show by reaching 177 for loss of three wickets in their second innings.

Moinuddin slammed unbeaten 52 with seven boundaries while Waqas hit 44 with seven fours.

They still need another 60 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

In the other match at the Quaid-i-Azam Park Steel Township Ground, middle-order batsman Ejaz Ahmed cracked a fighting hundred which helped Pakistan Steel in taking first innings lead over Navy.

Pakistan Steel mustered 329 for loss of nine wickets in 83 overs in reply to Navys first innings score of 328-7.

Ejaz hit nine fours and two sixes in his 117.

When the day`s play ended, Navy had reached 36 for loss of two wickets in their second innings.
