RAWALPINDI, July 1: The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) will be able to provide the city an additional seven million gallons of water daily from Rawal Dam from mid-July due to four new water filter beds at the Rawal Filtration Plant, according to official sources.
The additional water supply after the start of monsoon season will benefit the residents of Shamsabad, Khayaban-i-Sir Syed, Pir Wadhai, Dhoke Matkal, Dhoke Ratta, Dhoke Hassan, Dhoke Ratta Maral, Umarabad, Satellite Town, Pindora, Malpur and Katariyan.
The water agency currently gets 21mgd of water from Rawal Dam. However, it needs 34mgd of water from Rawal Dam to overcome water shortage in the city.
Thirteen tubewells are also being installed to overcome the water shortage.
