NWFP debt at Rs74bn

PESHAWAR, June 28: The NWFP government’s total domestic and foreign debt, which would stand at Rs74bn by June 30, 2002, would soar well up to Rs84bn by the close of the 2002-03 financial year.

In its budget document for the 2002-03 financial year, the provincial government has reflected its total debt liabilities standing at Rs73.913bn by June 30, 2002, including Rs36.56bn payable on account of cash development loan in addition to an other amount of Rs37.352bn payable on account of loans obtained over the years in the form of foreign project assistance.

The provincial debt is likely to touch new heights at the close of the next financial year, i.e. 2002-03 financial year.
