MULTAN, Oct 1: At least 16 primary schools will be repaired under the Existing School Rehabilitation (ESR) project.
Primary schools which would be repaired include Primary School, Basti Bohar, Multan; Primary School, Gulzar Mootiwala; Primary School, Chungi No 14, Multan city; Primary School, Ittehad Colony; Primary School, Amirabad, Multan; Primary School, New Central Jail; Primary School, Nandla No 2, Multan; and Primary School, Pul Mandewala. The list of boys primary schools has not been finalized so far.
The federal government has allocated Rs80 million for the project while each district will be given Rs2.5 million.
BHCS: Modern health facilities are being extended to at least 2,000 basic health centres (BHCs) across the Punjab.
This was stated by provincial Social Welfare and Women Development minister Shaheen Attiqur Rehman here on Monday while speaking at a one-day free medical camp at Chah Tabliwali on the Old Duniyapur Road.
She said that now people would not have to rushed to big cities for treatment. She said the Hepatitis B was a fatal disease and media should play its role for creating awareness among people. She lauded services of the Zakaria Welfare Trust which had set up five trusts in different parts of the city. She also paid tributes to those who were serving people in far-flung areas.
CHENAB TRAGEDY: The body of one of three relatives who drowned in River Chenab near Head Muhammadwala a day ago could be recovered till Sunday.
The body of Omair (12) was recovered while the search for the bodies of Wasim Khan (24) and Aneela (7) was still on.
It may be mentioned that the family of Abdul Aziz was on excursion when Anila slipped into the river. Omair and his elder brother Wasim jumped into the water to save their niece, but they also drowned.
The search operation was started 18 hours after the occurrence of incident as Muzaffargarh police were adamant that the incident took place in Multan police limits. —Nouman
