ISLAMABAD President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Ali Ahmed Kurd on Sunday ruled out that lawyers` movement was hijacked by political parties saying that political leadership would follow the legal fraternity during the incoming long march.

Speaking to media persons here at National Press Club, Kurd said that it is a wrong impression that the lawyers` movement was manipulated by some political parties and argued that political leaders were following the foot steps of lawyers for the cause of independent judiciary.

He reiterated that the sit-in outside Parliament House would last until all the sacked judges were not reinstated, adding that the long march would be peaceful for which codes of conduct had been finalized.

Kurd said that the lawyers were not merely striving for reinstating deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry, saying that the movement was purely aimed at implementing supremacy of constitution and an independent judiciary.

Replying to a question regarding government`s plan to stop the marchers from entering the twin cities of Rawalpindi-Islamabad, the SCBA president said that no one can dare stop the people from staging a peaceful sit-in.

To another question regarding appointment of 16 judges to Lahore High Court and 13 judges to Sindh High Court, he said that the lawyers did not want to divert attention to another issue at this time.
