ISLAMABAD, June 25: The Chairman Capital Development Authority, Mir Laiq Shah, was summoned from his village in North Waziristan to explain the five seconds power failure at the Chief Executive House, on Sunday.

Sources informed Dawn that due to some technical fault in a high tension panel (electrical system) installed on the premises, power supply to the chief executive house remained suspended for five seconds at 01:00am.

What made matters worse was that the alternative arrangement of automatic power generator also did not work for five seconds, source added.

Power failure created panic in the CE house since such an incident had never occurred in the past.

The CE secretariat took a serious note of the breakdown and directed the CDA to take effective steps to avoid such incidents in future.

The CDA was responsible for the maintenance of the CE house. The CDA chairman was called from his home town, Darpa Khel, North Waziristan Agency to report to the secretariat and answer for the alleged negligence. He was on leave when the incident took place.

A CDA electrical engineer informed that a 1,000-KV power generator installed in the CE house as an alternative arrangement starts after four second in case of power failure.
