PESHAWAR, Nov 1: In order to eradicate polio from the country as soon as possible, proper arrangements have been made on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border to vaccinate Afghan refugee children against the disease during the national immunization days (NIDs).
Abdul Hameed Afridi said this at the press club here on Thursday, while briefing journalists about a door-to-door polio eradication campaign that would start on Nov 6 and would continue till Nov 8.
Mr Afridi was accompanied by a group of doctors, including Dr Shamsher and Dr Tahir Mir, WHO representatives Marriot and Philip, besides representatives of the health department and the Red Cross.
Abdul Hameed Afridi stressed the need for creating awareness among the people about the importance of the drive, saying that there were no side-effects of polio drops. He lauded the contribution and participation of women.—PPI
