Ali Hai jumps to lead in Sindh Golf

KARACHI, Feb 14 Defending champion Mohammad Ali Hai fired an excellent seven birdied second round of six-under-par 66 to replace overnight leader Ali Sher at the top of leader board on the penultimate day of the 9th Sindh Amateur Golf championship at the Karachi Golf Club on Saturday.

Ali Hai who was lying third at the end of opening round with two over 74 on Friday now leads by three strokes against Abrar Ahmed who shot two-under-par 70.

Waseem Rana, Amjad Rahim and Ali Sher were tied at the third place with a score of 147. Waseem who played a dismal first round of 77, also carded two under-par 70 while Amjad and Ali fired 73 and 76 respectively.

Saad Huda, 15, became the new Sindh juniors champion with scores of 83 and 84 for a total of 167 in the 36-holes competition while Sameer Merchant was runner up with 183.

Danyal Shafiq and Fahad Najam finished winner and runner up in the juniors Net.

Tahir Karamat landed the Veterans title while Lt. Col M. Z. K. Burki finished runner up.

Murtaza Qasim is leading the Seniors` category with a gross score of 76 in the 36-holes competition. He is followed by Brig Abdul Haq (78), Naeem Durrrani (79), Haroon Kahlon (80), Zaheer chaudhary (81) Pervez Ansari and Ejaz Hashim (82).
