She was speaking to journalists during the lunch break of a workers convention, organized at the residence of the district president of the party, Allah Bux Magsi, on Sunday.
Given the party’s strength, the convention was well-attended as the workers came from all over Sindh.
She said that the parliament had the sole right of amending the Constitution.
She criticized the government for its utter failure on the domestic as well as international front and called for holding of elections under an interim government.
She further said that the government should not delay the elections otherwise the reaction of political forces would be strong.
Ms Tahmina disclosed that her party would strongly oppose any permanent role of the army in the government because the army’s job was to protect the frontiers, not to run the affairs of the country.
She remarked that an elected prime minister would have no say in the proposed National Security Council comprising the president, and chiefs of the armed forces.
She said that the parliament was supreme under any democratic set-up.
She said that her government had introduced the 13th amendment in the Constitution to prevent the president from removing the prime minister and dissolving parliament.
Ms Tahmina said that it appeared that an Afghanistan-like set-up was in the offing in this country as well because Hamid Karzai was also put in place as an elected man and now he was being asked to run the country as an interim leader and then get himself elected.
She said that the government was committing blunder after blunder right from the removal of an elected prime minister to the holding of presidential referendum.
She asked the government not to try to tinker with the Constitution because no one could amend it except the elected parliament.
She said that the PML-N would keep protesting against illegal acts of the government.
She lashed out at the government for its utter failure on the domestic as well as the international front.
She severely criticized the increasing interference of the FBI in the affairs of the country.
Central Information Secretary of the party, Mushahiddullah said who had authorized President Musharraf to talk of denuclearization following the Almaty conference. He added that it was an extremely sensitive issue and needed to be dealt with accordingly.
He alleged that the government had removed all the training camps in Azad Kashmir.
The president, PML-N (Sindh Chapter), Imdad Chandio opposed the Thal canal saying it would endanger the integrity of the country.
He said that the government should not play with the future of the country.
Addressing the convention, the general secretary, PML-N (Sindh), Mamnoon Hussain said the opportunists would be discarded in future.
He said that only loyal party workers would be accepted in the party and deserving candidates would be offered party tickets in the general election.
