Pro-govt elder`s house attacked in Dera Bugti

QUETTA A woman was killed and five others injured seriously in a rocket attack in Dera Bugti district late on Wednesday night.

According to sources, unknown armed men fired five rockets targeting the house of a pro-government tribal elder elder Mir Gulam Qadir Masori Bugti in Bekar area, a village at the border of troubled Dera Bugti and Kohlu districts. One of the rockets hit a house neighboring that of Mir Qadir Masori.

As result of rocket explosion a woman killed on the spot as roof of the house caved in. Five other persons including two security guard of Mir Qadir Masori sustained serious injuries. Sources said that four other rockets that were fired by militants from nearby mountains landed and exploded in the open place.

Mir Qadir Masori escaped the attack unharmed.

Sources said that after the rocket attack security forces deployed in the area rushed to the site and shifted the injured to the local government hospital. The condition of three of the wounded is serious, sources said, adding that they would be shifted to Dera Ghazi Khan.

Mir Ghulam Qadir Masori Bugti is an influential tribal elder of Masori clan of Bugti tribe who was also a member of General Zias Majlis Shoora. He later he joined Pakistan Peoples Party.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Baloch Republican Army (BRA), Sarbaz Baloch has claimed the responsibility of the rocket attack. Calling from unknown place on satellite phone, he told newsmen that militants fired rocket at the house Wadera Khan Mohammad Masori Bugti, killing one and injuring three others.
