QUETTA, Oct 31: Accountability Court No.2, presided over by Judge Nadir Khan Durrani on Wednesday convicted and awarded three years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs10 million to former Lasbella Deputy Commissioner Qazi Siraj in a reference pertaining to corruption.

The court also awarded one-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs50,000 to Assistant Engineer Mehboob Shah in the same reference and acquitted Lakhara Tehsildar Abdul Hameed and a Lasbella administration official, Mohammad Hashim.

The court ordered that the fine should be recovered by auctioning movable and immovable property of the convict.

According to the reference filed by the Regional Accountability Bureau, the accused was involved in selling vehicles through fake documents.

Both the convicts were disqualified from holding any public office and taking part in local bodies, national and provincial assemblies’ elections for 10 years.

They were also debarred from obtaining loans or financial assistance from any bank for 10 years.
