HYDERABAD, June 12: The leaders of the All Pakistan Federation of Trade Unions have urged the government to legislate laws against child labour and implement the same effectively.

They were speaking at a seminar on “Elimination of Child Labour” to mark the international day against child labour.

Abdul Latif Nizamani, Mohammad Asghar, Mohammad Iqbal Kaimkhani, Malik Sultan, Mir Khan Baloch and others spoke on the occasion.

They said in order to raise the image of the country among the community of nations, it was necessary to eliminate child labour from Pakistan.

They said it was equal responsibility of the civil society to ensure meaningful education to every child.

They pointed out that the labour force of Pakistan consisted of children between 10 to 14 years of age and their parents being poor could not provide education to them.

EXAMINATIONS: The controller of examinations (semester), University of Sindh, has announced here on Wednesday that the semester examinations for 2001 of the candidates of Sukkur Institute of Science and Technology, to BBA, BCIT, MSCIT, part-I, II and III, MBA (previous and final) will be held from June 17 at the institute.
