TORONTO, June 11: A well-attended rally was held here on Sunday with speakers to urge India and Pakistan to work towards reducing tension on their borders.

Organized by Indo-Pak Friendship Forum, Canada, the rally was attended among others by prominent community leaders, journalists, writers, and poets of South Asian origin. The organizers of the rally asked New Delhi and Islamabad to withdraw their forces from the borders and start negotiations to resolve all issues.

In their emotional speeches, the speakers said that the three wars that India and Pakistan had fought since 1947 did not produce any result.

The fourth war, they feared, will be disastrous for both countries.

Satinderpal Singh Sidhu, president of Indo-Pak Friendship Forum said the Berlin Wall has been dismantled and the European countries are cooperating with each other, but Pakistanis and Indians are ready to “turn each other’s country into graveyards.”

Sidhu, also asked Canada and the United States to play more effective role in easing tension in the region.
