HYDERABAD, June 10: A large number of activists of the Sindh People’s Students Federation (SB), Sindh University, Jamshoro, unit, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Monday against the arrest of party leaders.
They raised slogans against Bhitai Nagar police station SHO Eijaz Tareen.
Speaking at the rally, Zaheer Ahmed Kalwar, Faraz Ahmed Memon, Zaib Baloch, Nazeer Sarang and other leaders condemned the arrests of Ali Ahmed Palepoto, former SPSF (SB) president, and Majeed Siyal, former president of the youth wing.
They said since their party had launched a struggle against the Kalabagh dam, the greater Thal canal and other anti-Sindh projects, the party leaders were being harassed and victimized by the administration.
They said such arrests could not break their spirit and added that they would continue their protest throughout the province against anti-Sindh projects and for the release of Palepoto and Siyal.
It may be pointed out here that Ali Ahmed Palepoto and Majeed Siyal have been detained by the police in the kidnapping case of Prof Mohammad Hussain Leghari who was released by kidnappers four days back.
