KHAIRPUR, Oct 30: Noted progressive thinker Mukhtar Bacha has said that Afghanistan war was being fought for Arabs and not for common people’s rights.

He was speaking at a seminar on the role of Pakistan against terrorism held here the other day at Government Naz High School by Muttahida Mazdoor Federation.

He said that only the philosophy of Sufism could save the world, according to which people belonging to different religions could live together peacefully.

He said that at the time of the fall of Dr Najeeb’s government and Afghanistan’s take over by the Taliban in October 1996, rich cultural heritage of Kabul was destroyed.

Mr Bach who is known as the former leader of the Communist Party of Pakistan added that the policy of Pakistan government against terrorism was right.

Leftist political leader Yousuf Masti Khan said that terrorism should be stopped but added that depriving people of electricity and water was also terrorism.—Correspondent
