Karak Tehsil budget approved

KARAK, Oct 30: The Tehsil Council of Karak on Tuesday passed a deficit budget of Rs 800,000 for 2001-2.

Karak Tehsil Nazim Qudrat Gul presented the budget of the tehsil municipal administration for the current financial year. Convener of the council Malik Abdul Qadir presided over the session.

The total income of the council has been shown as Rs 6,508,700 including the pendency of Rs 900,000 of previous years, while non-development expenditure including salaries of staff has been shown as Rs 5,524,191. No amount has been allocated for development schemes.

The Naib Nazims of nine union councils of the Tehsil, while referring to the unanimous resolution adopted in the previous meeting to remove the district coordination officer, again demanded the immediate removal of the DCO. They said that the same resolution was not included in the minutes of the meeting.

They said that the attitude of the DCO towards the elected representatives of the Tehsil could not be borne any longer. They alleged that the DCO was bent upon derailing the new system. They also demanded the removal of the EDO (agriculture).

The councillors warned that if funds were not provided to the public representatives for development schemes in their areas, they would launch protest.

The members also demanded inquiry into the distribution of Baitul Maal as well as drought funds allocated to the tehsil. They also sought more powers for the district Nazim.

The council convener demanded of the provincial government to sanction special funds for the district so that the new system could be run successfully.

Winding up the budget session, Nazim Qudrat Gul said that mutual understanding was the pre-requisite to resolving the problems facing the district.
