Bus service for women in Peshawar soon

PESHAWAR, April 11 The NWFP government is planning to start a bus service for women in the provincial capital, says a handout.

Minister for Social Welfare, Women Development and Special Education Sitara Ayaz, during a meeting, said that the women bus service should be started as soon as possible to provide better transport facilities for women.

She said the Parda Bagh at Shahi Bagh would be renovated to provide recreational facilities to women and children in Peshawar.

The minister expressed concern over the performance of projects run by the government in the social welfare, women development and special education sectors. She noted with concern that no project had shown outstanding performance and all of the projects needed improvement. The minister told officers to make every project a success story.

She pointed out that women crisis centres, run by the social welfare department, needed improvement. The condition of crisis centres would be improved so that women in trouble could be given immediate help and relief.

Ms Ayaz said that problems being faced by officials would be solved on priority basis so that they could work properly.

The minister told the meeting, attended by secretary social welfare department, additional secretary, director and other officers, that the department should show visible results.
