KARACHI, April 7 (APP) Former Sindh Chief Minister and President Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) Sindh, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim was subjected to violence by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) workers while he was leaving the Sindh Assembly after taking oath as a provincial minister.

PPP workers created turmoil inside the assembly, demanding that Rahim should not be allowed to take oath. They belligerently raised slogans and attempted to disrupt the proceedings. However, after negotiations between PPP and Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) leaders, Rahim came into the house and was administered oath by Speaker Muzaffar Hussain Shah, after which he signed the roll of members and immediately left the assembly hall.

When Rahim emerged in the corridor, PPP workers including women tried to attack him. Protesters scuffled with police escorting him back to his car and a man wielding a shoe struck him on the temple. His motorcade was also pelted with stones. MQM ministers staged a walk out from the assembly after they learned about the attack and the newly-elected Speaker Nisar Khuhro aplogised for the incident.
