HYDERABAD, Nov 11: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has directed civic departments not to dig any road without permission of the district administration to avoid inconvenience to people and loss to national exchequer.

He was speaking at a meeting about safety and sustainability of development works in the district at his office on Thursday.

Taluka nazims, representatives of public utility departments and officials of the district government attended the meeting.

The district nazim said that due to lack of coordination among telephone, Sui gas, education and agriculture departments with the district government, the development work of one organization was causing damage to others and not only causing inconvenience to the people but also loss to government exchequers.

He stressed upon the management of public utility departments to prepare their plans of development in advance and submit them to the district government and get road-digging permission from district government with condition of repair and payment if necessary.

He said that legal action would be taken if such activities were undertaken with prior permission.

He warned the private builders and developers to refrain from these activities failing which they would be booked according to law.

He said that instructions were being issued to the DPO for taking action on the spot.

He said the district government would not allow anyone to create difficulties for residents of the city who had already suffered a lot due to irregularities made in the past.

The district nazim said that the EDO works had been appointed as focal person to facilitate the different departments and private builders and to keep close coordination among them to ensure the schedule of integrated development works in the district.

He called upon all departments to remain in touch with the EDO works while launching any development work which needs road-cutting or damage and demolition of other infrastructure of district government.

Meanwhile, the district nazim appointed EDO (revenue) as the inquiry officer to probe into the death of one and half years old child who had died by falling into open gutter in Qasimabad-II and relieved Wasa MD Shaukat Hayat Bhutto from his assignment as inquiry officer due to inclusion of his name in the FIR lodged by parents of the deceased child.

PROBE: The sessions judge Jamshoro at Kotri has said that an inquiry under section 22-B(a) CrPC is being initiated by him on the direction of honourable chief justice of the High Court of Sindh to inquire into the incident of killing of Abdul Aziz, son of Wahab, on October 23 on the Super Highway.
