LAHORE, May 5: An Hailian was kidnapped reportedly for a Rs50 million ransom somewhere between his Allama Iqbal Town house and the university campus on Sunday.
Salahuddin, a businessman dealing in building material, told police his son, Waqar, went to the campus after receiving a phone call in the morning. He said he neither knew the caller nor his son told him as to what led him to visit the campus on Sunday. At about 5pm, he received a phone call. Someone introduced himself as Ali and claimed that he had kidnapped Waqar.
“He asked me to arrange Rs50 million as ransom and wait for further instructions,” he quoted the caller as saying. When he told the caller that he was unable to arrange such a big amount, the caller put down the phone saying: “See you later.”
Senior police officers also visited Waqar’s house in Hunza Block.
However, the police concerned refused to give any further detail saying: “We have so far received the information only about the kidnapping and nothing else is right now with us.”
No case has so far been registered.
MURDER: A man was shot dead allegedly by two gunmen over a money dispute in P-Block of Johar Town in Sattukatla police limits.
Tahir Bashir told police his nephew, Ansar Butt, 30, a resident of Mohni Road, was constructing a house in Johar Town. Two men visited Ansar and asked for money he had to pay them. Ansar paid some money but they demanded more which led to an exchange of harsh words. The two men whipped out pistols and fired at Ansar who sustained five bullet injuries and died on way to hospital.

Hanifan Bibi told police her husband, Anwar, had been upset for the last some months over domestic problems.
THEFT: One Shehar Yar Khan reported to the police that he and his family were away from their house in Hanjarwal and on return he found cash, gold and valuables worth Rs500,000 missing from the house.
