SAHIWAL, May 5: The Lahore High Court, Multan bench, judge on Sunday directed the local SSP to register a criminal case against the five accused involved in firing and ransacking a labourer’s house at Chak 59/GD.
Naseer Ahmed in his petition had alleged that Ishtiaq along with a woman forcibly caught his daughter and raped her on April 7. Police had registered a case under Hudood Ordinance, but the accused were not arrested. Instead, he said, a fabricated case was registered against the witnesses and victim’s two brothers as a pressure tactics for the withdrawal of Hudood case. Later, Sarfraz, his brother Iftikhar and their accomplices Murtaza, Ata Muhammad and Aslam opened fire and ransacked his house. They also passed murder threats if the case was not withdrawn, he said.
COASTER HIJACKED: Four armed robbers hijacked a coaster of the Ittefaq Sugar Mills here on Saturday night.
The robbers used the vehicle for looting commuters on branch roads and then abandoned it near Noorshah and disappeared. Driver Ashfaq Ahmed was going back to the mills at Noorshah after dropping employees in Sahiwal when robbers stopped him by erecting barricades. Later, they took the vehicle to various branch roads, including the Yusafwala-Noorshah Road, where they looted commuters.
LOADSHEDDING: The Wapda continued its unscheduled loadshedding for the fourth day here on Sunday.
The power supply suspended at 2am in Farid Town, Scheme No 2 areas and the adjoining localities was restored at 8am.
