MINGORA, May 4: The elected representatives and traders have hailed the success of Gen Musharraf in the referendum and termed it a good omen for the country and the downtrodden people.

The tehsil Nazim, Kamran Khan and women councillors, in their separate statements issued here on Friday said that at present Gen Pervez Musharraf was the only hope for the country’s solidarity and unity.

They said the people of Swat supported him in the best interest of the country with the hope that he would do his best to improve the socio-economic conditions of the poor people.

They said the success of Gen Musharraf was a reflection of the people’s thought about the political parties, as they had failed to serve the masses. It was said the politicians had always exploited the people and plundered the national exchequer.
