KARACHI, May 4: The government of Sindh, has decided to purchase 300,000 MT more wheat. In addition, PASSCO has been asked to procure 100,000 MT, says a press release.
The federal government also has asked PASSCO to purchase another 100,000 MT. The procurement target of 500,000 MT is, therefore, quite sufficient for the province.
PASSCO is about to start the procurement campaign while the food department has achieved 20 per cent procurement target. Besides, 50 per cent of bardana has been issued.
In order to create space in the godowns of the interior of Sindh, tenders have been invited by the deputy director concerned and wheat would be transported to Karachi shortly.
This year the government of Sindh has evolved a procedure by which wheat would be purchased only from that person who produces a copy of the ID card and the receipt of the land revenue paid last year.—PPI
