THATTA, April 27: Police arrested two PPP local leaders, Dr Qadir Bux, Haji Mohsin Sheedi, two party activists, Anwar Baghal, Urs Parheri, and a councillor, Dr Imtiaz Ahmed, for staging a rally and observing a token hunger strike against referendum in Sujawal Town on Friday.

After marching through the town roads and chanting slogans against the government, dozens of Pakistan People’s Party activists resumed their hunger strike at the camp established for this purpose.

Soon a heavy police contingent stormed the site and escorted away five of the protesters.

When this scribe contacted the Sujawal police station, its SHO said that no FIR had so far been lodged against the arrested activists and he was waiting for further orders from the district administration in this regard.—Correspondent
