PESHAWAR, April 27: The NWFP cabinet on Friday reviewed the arrangements for the referendum and decided to take all possible steps to ensure a peaceful and congenial atmosphere during the polling.
In a meeting presided over by Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah at the Governor’s House, the cabinet stressed the need for suitable security measures.
The governor directed the law enforcement authorities to remain alert and vigilant and make a comprehensive plan for maintaining law and order.
The governor expressed his hope that the people would vote in favour of the president to ensure continuation of policies and projects launched for the welfare of the people.
The cabinet was informed that all necessary arrangements have been made for maintaining law and order on the day of the referendum and that police would be deployed at all polling stations.
It was informed that the required material for polling stations had been dispatched to the districts.—Bureau
