PLACENTIA (USA), April 23: At least one person was killed and 265 injured on Tuesday when a freight train slammed into a passenger train in southern California, emergency officials said.
“An eastbound train and a west bound train apparently collided head on,” a Los Angeles Police Department official said. Witnesses said the passenger train had stopped when a 1.6 kilometre long freight train hit it.
Some 200 of the victims were “walking-wounded” who suffered relatively minor cuts but 25 others suffered life-threatening injuries, said an official of the Orange County.—AFP
