HYDERABAD, April 18: The central action committee of Sindh Employees Alliance, at a meeting held here on Thursday, resolved that unless the five teachers of Sukkur were reinstated unconditionally, and the victimization of teachers was stopped, the alliance would not withdraw from any of its earlier decisions, including boycott of the presidential referendum.

The meeting discussed the letter issued by the secretary for education, Sindh, reinstating the five teachers of Sukkur with some conditions and added that the sword was still hanging over the heads of these teachers.

The SEA pledged to continue the protest till the acceptance of its demands.

The meeting adopted several resolutions, demanding the removal of EDO (education), Sukkur, Raifa Naz Pathan, retransfer of the teachers who were expelled from the district and withdrawal of show-cause notices and explanation letters issued to teachers.

It also demanded to stop the privatization of educational institutions, withdraw the decision to merge the seniority of nationalized cadre and government cadre and issue the notification about the remaining promotion and move-over cases.

The meeting further demanded that the notification in respect of the approved demands of the member organizations of the alliance should be issued.

The meeting resolved to hold protest meetings in Sanghar and Mirpurkhas on April 19 and 20, respectively.

The meeting was informed that the next round of parleys between the alliance leaders and secretary for education would be held on April 19 at Karachi.

The meeting expressed concern over the kidnapping of Professor Mohammad Hussain Leghari of the Liaquat Medical University and demanded his recovery.
