ISLAMABAD, April 16: The District Zakat Department will disburse Rs11.85 million among 5,307 needy and poor people from Zakat fund in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) upto June 30, sources said here on Tuesday.

According to the sources, Rs7,562,000 will be disbursed among the poor as ‘Guzara’ allowance while Rs1,930,000 will be spent on education welfare during the financial year ending on June 30. They said Rs858,000 would be given to the students of Deeni Madaris and Rs643,000 would be provided to the healthcare units located in Islamabad Capital Territory from the Zakat fund. As many as Rs429,000 would be disbursed among poor persons under Zakat rehabilitation schemes so that they could set up their own business, the sources added.

They further said the District Zakat Department would release Rs429,000 to share marriage expenditure of orphan girls residing in the ICT.

Meanwhile, elections of 133 local Zakat and Ushr committees of District Islamabad have been finalized. There are 150 local Zakat and Ushr committees for the ICT. The process of elections of remaining 17 Zakat committees is being expedited.— APP
