TOKYO, April 14: Police said some 9,500 chickens were charred to ashes in a fire started by a short-circuit at a poultry farm near Tokyo on Sunday.

There were 38 light bulbs and eight ventilators in operation when the fire broke out in a 615-square-meter coop in Ibaraki prefecture, northeast of Tokyo, the police said.—Reuters
