QUETTA, April 5: The DIG of Frontier Corps, Brig Tassaduq Hussain Shah, said on Friday that the batch of pro-Taliban fighters caught by the Pishin Scouts some weeks ago at Chaman had been shifted to Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

They were 35 in number and most of them were foreign nationals, Col Sarwar, Commandant of the Pishin Scouts, confirmed at a press briefing.

Brig Tassaduq said the international frontiers of Pakistan were effectively guarded and added that the FC was defending 2,100km-long international frontiers — 1,200km with Afghanistan and 900km with Iran. “We are keeping a vigilant eye on the borders with Afghanistan to check unwanted influx,” he said.

Asked about drug trafficking, Brig Tassaduq said that on an average drug worth Rs10 million was seized annually.

He showed a big haul of narcotics seized by the Pishin Scouts.
