Balochistan govt to launch scholarships

QUETTA, April 4: Balochistan government on Wednesday announced a scholarship policy for meritorious poor students and an endowment fund of Rs250 million will be created in the Balochistan Education Foundation for the purpose.

A committee led by development additional chief secretary has been set up to recommend the names of the deserving students, says a notification. Finance and education secretaries will be its members.

The amount for the endowment fund will be contributed over five years in instalments of Rs50 million per annum, starting from the current fiscal year. Another Rs100 million will be provided out of the education sector reforms programme fund.

Stipends of Rs200 per month will be given to the students who secure first, second and third positions in the fifth class.

Under the Scholarship Endowment Fund seven scholarships will be provided to the poor students of Mastung Cadet College and two each to residential colleges at Loralai, Khuzdar and Turbat.
