QUETTA, April 1: Unknown men attacked a goods train near Panir railway station with automatic weapons, including rockets, in the early hours of Monday, suspending train service between Quetta and Sibi for several hours.
A railways officer, when contacted, confirmed the incident and said: “We stopped all Quetta-bound trains from Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi at Sibi station for the safety of the passengers.”
According to sources the attacked train had left for Sibi on Sunday night from Quetta and the assailants opened indiscriminate fire on it between Panir and Gadalar railway stations.
