SCBA condemns Israeli attack

ISLAMABAD, March 30: Participants of a peace conference on Saturday condemned Israeli attack on Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian Authority office by the Israeli government, terming it an international terrorist state.

A three-day “Peace Conference” organised by the Supreme Court Bar Association, which began on Friday, condemned Israeli attack and passed a resolution unanimously in this regard.

The conference appealed to the conscience of the international community, specially the United Nations and United States, to condemn the massacre of Palestinians and to bring Sharon and members of his government to book.

Two separate resolutions were passed on Saturday after the working sessions. Both the working sessions were presided over by Hamid Khan, President Supreme Court Bar Association.

H. Shakil Ahmed, Vice-Chairman, Pakistan Bar Council, and Abdul Haleem Pirzada, Chairman, Executive Committee, Pakistan Bar Council, were the chief guests while Sahibzada Anwar Hameed, Secretary SCBAP, conducted the proceedings.

The topic of discussion of the first session was “International law of human rights and liability for violation of its principles”.

Syed Kaleem Ahmed Khurshid, Malik Saeed Hasan, Iqbal Mahmood Awan, Mohammad Ikram Chaudhry and other lawyers read papers.—APP
