Khurram top seed

KARACHI, March 27: Pakistan number one Khurram Hussain Agha has been top seeded for the sixth Style National Ranking Snooker Championship being staged at Karachi Gymkhana Billiards Hall from April 13 to 20, Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) announced Wednesday.

Khurram of Adamjee Insurance, who went down to Farhan Mirza of Punjab in the national championship final early February has maintained his top position at the national level.

Defending champion Farhan Mirza is seeded two, Muhammad Yousuf three and Naveen Perwani four. Other seeds are Saleh Muhammad (5), Imran Shahzad (6), Atiq Latif Bakhsh (7) and Shakeel Bhatti (8).

Forty top cueists on the national ranking chart will be participating in the 8-day event. The championship will carry a handsome prize money of Rs 174,000 with the winner taking home Rs 50,000 and runner-up Rs 35,000.

The losing semi finalist gets Rs 15,000 each and losing quarter finalist will pocket Rs. 8000 and losing pre-quarter finalist will get Rs 2000 each. The cueist chalking up the highest break will collect Rs 6000, a spokesman of the PBSA said.

Prominent among those who will be appearing in the event include Pakistan number one Khurram Agha, reigning National Champion Farhan Mirza, former world amateur champion Muhammad Yousuf, Naveen Perwani, former world number three Saleh Muhammad, Imran Shahzad, Atiq Latif Bakhsh, Shakeel Bhatti, Minhas Malik and Arifullah.—APP
