MP calls for withdrawal of GST on drugs

LAHORE, March 27: Millat Party central vice-president and former health minister Malik Abdul Qayyum has urged the government to withdraw imposition of 15 per cent GST on medicines at it will give a boost only to smuggled drugs from India casting adverse effects on local pharmaceutical companies.

In a press statement on Wednesday, he said the prices of medicines even manufactured by the multinational companies were much less in India as compared to Pakistan and any more increase in prices would completely destroy the local pharmaceutical industry.

CONDEMNATION: Central information secretary Brig Muhammad Yusuf (retired) has condemned the arrest of APHC leader Yasin Malik under POTO ordinance by the Indian government.

He urged the Vajpaee government to stop violations of human rights in the Indian held Kashmir and resolve the Kashmir dispute according to the aspirations of the people of Kashmir and resolutions of the United Nations.
