HYDERABAD, March 27: The provincial administrative council of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA), at a meeting held at the Sachal Sarmast College on Wednesday, supported the struggle of the Sindh Employees Alliance (SEA) and severely criticized the negative policies of the Sindh Education Department.
Qazi Siraj presided over it.
The meeting resolved to challenge the decision of the Sindh government about the amalgamation of government and nationalized cadres, seniority in the Sindh High Court, and hiring the services of Barrister Manzoor Ali Khan and Barrister Safdar Ali Khan regarding it.
Prof Syed Riaz Ahsan and Prof Liaquat Aziz will assist the legal team.
In another resolution, the meeting decided to challenge the privatization of St. Patrick’s College and St. Joseph’s Girls College Karachi in the Sindh High Court for which funds will be collected through the college units.
It was further decided to stage a protest sit-in against the non-acceptance of college teachers demands in the first week of April in which 200 college teachers from each district will participate.
The meeting demanded that the sacked teachers of Sukkur should be reinstated, victimization of teachers should be stopped, notification should be issued for promotions and move-overs and the principals of Shah Latif Girls College, Badar Nasir, Government Girls College Sakrand, Ms Naeema Jamali, and the retired principal of the Government Boys College Sakrand, Rao Ali Gohar, should be removed.
In yet another resolution, the meeting demanded that shortage of teachers in the colleges of interior Sindh, computers, scientific equipment, and furniture should be removed.
HUNGER STRIKE: On the call of the Sindh Employees Alliance (SEA), several teachers and clerical staff staged token hunger strike in the Sachal Sarmast College on Wednesday against the anti-teachers and anti-people’s policies of the Sindh Education Department.
Hunger strikes were also observed in Sukkur, Larkana and Mirpurkhas.
According to the spokesman of the Sindh Educational Alliance, Prof Tariq Qureshi, protest demonstrations will be held at all the district headquarters of Sindh, Punjab, NWFP, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and FATA on Thursday for the rights of the teachers.
In Hyderabad, a protest meeting will be held in the Government High School, near the circular building.
BISE: The controller of examinations, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Hyderabad, announced that examination/admission forms for the forthcoming Higher Secondary Certificate Part II (Class XII) annual examinations 2002 for eligible candidates who appeared in the Higher Secondary Certificate Part II supplementary examinations 2001 shall be accepted without late fee upto April 6.
The fees charged from each candidate will be the same as already notified vide a notification dated 08-01-2002.
The controller has made it clear that no further extension would be granted under any circumstances.
The controller further announced that candidates, who had passed their HSC Part II (Class XII) supplementary examinations 2001 and intended to improve their grades in the forthcoming HSC Part I and II (Class XI & XII) annual examination 2002, submit their applications through their colleges for grant of permission for improvement of grade (if otherwise eligible) upto 06-04-2002.
He said that the candidate at his/her option would be allowed to improve his grade by re-appearing in six papers of Class XI or in six papers of Class XII or in all the 12 papers of Class XI and XII at the same time.
The candidates are advised to follow requisite formalities.
