PESHAWAR, March 23: Doctors of all disciplines have urged the government to withdraw ban on private practice and warned that in case doctors decide to resign en masse on the issue it would create a vacuum at all the government-run health outlets.
Speaking at a seminar organised by the People Awareness Movement at the Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, PAM Convener Fazal Elahi advocate, PMA provincial chief Dr Omar Ayub, Teaching Association leader Dr Jalal Khan, National Awami Party general secretary Latif Afridi and others urged the government to solve the issue amicably.
They said the row between the doctors and the government was creating problems for patients. The government’s stubbornness over the issue had worsened the situation for the general public, they added. Dr Jalal said over 80 per cent doctors had decided to resign from their jobs, which would affect the working at colleges and hospitals.
