ORLANDO (Florida), March 15: Three of the game’s long hitters, Tiger Woods, Argentine Angel Cabrera and John Daly, along with John Huston and D.A. Weibring were on top of the leaderboard after shooting five-under-par 67s early in the first round of the $4 million Bay Hill Invitational on Thursday.
Stewart Cink and Australian Rod Pampling are tied for sixth, one shot back of the leaders after shooting four-under-par 68s.
Woods and Huston were the only players to have bogey free rounds among the leaders.
Both took full advantage of the four par-5s on the 7,239-yard course, making birdie on three of them.
Cabrera started the day on the back nine and promptly made three straight birdies to take the early lead. He would eventually extend his lead to two shots with seven birdies in the first 16 holes, but bogeys at the par-4 eighth and ninth holes brought him back.
Daly’s round included an eagle on the par-5 16th and five birdies, but back-to-back bogeys at holes 13 and 14 also slowed his round.
